Upcoming changes applying from 12 November 2024 announced by the Luxembourg Business Registers (LBR) – Requirement to communicate a Luxembourg national identification number for individuals registered with the Luxembourg trade and companies register (RCS)
Effective as of 12 November 2024, the LBR announces the requirement for any individual in any capacity (partner, authorised representative, person responsible for auditing the accounts, etc.) that wishes to register any document on behalf of a legal person with the RCS to be in a possession of a Luxembourg national identification number (LNIN) to be communicated to the LBR upon filing.
The LNIN is more commonly known as the “Matricule number” or “CNS Number”.
For individuals not in possession with a LNIN, they will be required to submit, in addition with the documents to be submitted to the RCS, additional documents and information concerning such individuals for whom a LNIN is to be issued, for the sole purpose of creating the number in the National Register of Natural Persons.
Such information shall include, among others, name, nationality, gender and private residence together with supporting documents (e.g. ID or passport) and if necessary private address (e.g. certificate of residence, declaration of honneur certified by a competent authority or even utility bill).
The LNIN will however not become public information, nor communicated to third parties or appearing on any document issued by the RCS including on any requisite forms.
More details can be found in the notice issued by the LBR and the brochure issued by the RCS on the filing formalism and by contacting us using the following contact details:
